<---------------------------------  Check it out!! I won!!!

Good by for another year Mr. Writing Gnome!
Just to clarify, the scary ones represent how I feel about this whole process by the end of the month! And the cute one? Well, he has been jumping on my brain for the past 30 days, forcing me to participate in this insane venture for the past 3 years! He looks innocent enough but he's evil, pure evil I tell you!!

Almost there.....

Hello to all my lovely (and turkey stuffed) peeps out there in the blogiverse! NaNoWriMo has presented quite a few challenges this year in the form of crazy busy days and the rather unfortunate timing of the release of Christopher Poalini's last book in the Inheritance Cycle!

(Awesome series by that way, one of my favorites!)
Yes, it only took me three days to read, but late nights that should have been spent catching up on writing were spent in the company of dragons, Urgals and elves instead!  Fie upon you Poalini!

Ahem, anywhoodle.....I promise to be back to a more regular blogging schedule come December first when I will be joining in Natasha's 12 days of Christmas blog party!

Click on the above picture to check it out, should be fun!!

Ps. Check out the new Christmassy theme to the ol' blog, I love Christmas!

Pss. Only 3 days left of NaNoWriMo.....I think I can, I think I can, I think I can! =)

Today's challenge? Wear a hat!

Ehem.....I have a confession to make, this picture may not be from today.....I did wear a hat today, and it looks just like the one in the pic, but it's a tweedy brown color. I was crazy busy today, so this is all we have folks!

This week was super fun, I loved the challenges each day! Thanks for hosting Ashley! =)

Day Six~Trendy!

Clicking on the yellow skirt on the left will take you to the lovely blog hosting this Fashion Week!

Today's challenge? To wear your favorite Fall Trend!

One of my fav fall trends is long sweaters! I thought I could pick any fall trend, but everyone else seems to be doing one from Ashley's post on fall trends....oops!

*sigh* Ignore the squiggles on the picture, I tired something and it didn't work, and I couldn't figure out how to undo it! It's been one of those days! =P
 Sweater: Fred Myers, Cami: JcPenny, jeans: Venezia via eBay, Shoes: Payless

I tried to get more pics of the shoes, they are sequined on the toe, but alas my camera battery died and I was in a hurry so didn't want to go and find new ones! Hmm, my jeans look black in the picture, they're blue, I promise!  Like I said it's one of those days!

Earrings: ShopKo, Necklace: Wal-Mart

Date a Girl Who Reads

Found this on a  friends blog, and it rang so true it made me tear up! Read it, it's amazing!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Date a girl who reads. Date a girl who spends her money on books instead of clothes. She has problems with closet space because she has too many books. Date a girl who has a list of books she wants to read, who has had a library card since she was twelve.
Find a girl who reads. You’ll know that she does because she will always have an unread book in her bag.She’s the one lovingly looking over the shelves in the bookstore, the one who quietly cries out when she finds the book she wants. You see the weird chick sniffing the pages of an old book in a second hand book shop? That’s the reader. They can never resist smelling the pages, especially when they are yellow.
She’s the girl reading while waiting in that coffee shop down the street. If you take a peek at her mug, the non-dairy creamer is floating on top because she’s kind of engrossed already. Lost in a world of the author’s making. Sit down. She might give you a glare, as most girls who read do not like to be interrupted. Ask her if she likes the book.
Buy her another cup of coffee.
Let her know what you really think of Murakami. See if she got through the first chapter of Fellowship. Understand that if she says she understood James Joyce’s Ulysses she’s just saying that to sound intelligent. Ask her if she loves Alice or she would like to be Alice.
It’s easy to date a girl who reads. Give her books for her birthday, for Christmas and for anniversaries. Give her the gift of words, in poetry, in song. Give her Neruda, Pound, Sexton, Cummings. Let her know that you understand that words are love. Understand that she knows the difference between books and reality but by god, she’s going to try to make her life a little like her favorite book. It will never be your fault if she does.
She has to give it a shot somehow.
Lie to her. If she understands syntax, she will understand your need to lie. Behind words are other things: motivation, value, nuance, dialogue. It will not be the end of the world.
Fail her. Because a girl who reads knows that failure always leads up to the climax. Because girls who understand that all things will come to end. That you can always write a sequel. That you can begin again and again and still be the hero. That life is meant to have a villain or two.
Why be frightened of everything that you are not? Girls who read understand that people, like characters, develop. Except in the Twilight series.
If you find a girl who reads, keep her close. When you find her up at 2 AM clutching a book to her chest and weeping, make her a cup of tea and hold her. You may lose her for a couple of hours but she will always come back to you. She’ll talk as if the characters in the book are real, because for a while, they always are.
You will propose on a hot air balloon. Or during a rock concert. Or very casually next time she’s sick. Over Skype.
You will smile so hard you will wonder why your heart hasn’t burst and bled out all over your chest yet. You will write the story of your lives, have kids with strange names and even stranger tastes. She will introduce your children to the Cat in the Hat and Aslan, maybe in the same day. You will walk the winters of your old age together and she will recite Keats under her breath while you shake the snow off your boots.
Date a girl who reads because you deserve it. You deserve a girl who can give you the most colorful life imaginable. If you can only give her monotony, and stale hours and half-baked proposals, then you’re better off alone. If you want the world and the worlds beyond it, date a girl who reads.
Or better yet, date a girl who writes.”
Day Five~Feelin' Polka Dotty
Click on the yellow skirt on the right to follow along with the rest of the gals!
Today's challenge? Wear Polka Dots!
You want to know a secret? This is a maternity dress.....I didn't know it when I bought it off of eBay, but there you go!
You want to another secret? This dress makes me look pregnant....shocker, right?? That's why I have the shrug on, it makes the front not flow out over my "baby bump" (not that there is one!) well, there might be a food baby some days, like on pizza or Mexican food day.....but that is another topic entirely! ;-)
My hair is wet, hence the super shiny, slightly crunchy look.....because today I remembered to take pics before the afternoon, it was 8am when I took these, 8am! That's a personal record right there peeps! And I give you this explanation for it's flat and slightly crunchy look not because I think you'll be aghast at the awful looking hair, but because it makes me feel better about the the hair look less the good!
There now I feel better.....and cold because I'm sitting here by a window with a  wet head.....
Day Four~Call Me Cordilia
If you'd like to follow along with the rest of the crew, click on the yellow skirt to your left!
Today's challenge? Dress in cloths inspired by your favorite era.
Should be easy enough, right? The 50's is by far my favorite, but alas and alack when I got to my closet I found that while my summer wardrobe is bursting with 50's inspired clothing, my fall/winter one is lacking the 50's influence completely!
So, while making pans to remedy that as soon as possible, I went with my second favorite era, the Edwardian era! My love if this era is mostly inspired by, of course, Anne of Green Gables!
The walking skirt was made from Folk Wears pattern. I would highly recommend it if you are planning on making a waking skirt of your own!
 Cardigan: Target, Cami: JcPenny, Walking Skirt: Made by Me
Wow, erm...I didn't realize quite how beat up these boots were until I saw this picture, maybe it's time for another coat of marker and clear nail polish on that worn spot on the toe.....what, you don't use nail polish and markers to fix your shoes? Hey, I'm telling you, it really works! You can't even tell in person, I promise!
Boots: Wal-Mart, Cameo Necklace: The Hens Tooth (a local gift shop)
Day Three~Elf Socks!
Click on the pretty yellow skirt to the left to see the rest of the lovely ladies participating! =)
The challenge? Bold tights as in lacy, brightly colored etc. etc. etc.!
I almost thought I was going to have to skip today, but then I remembered some knee socks I'd bought for a Christmas party! My.....ehem.....rather curvy legs makes finding tights and knee socks in more then the basic colors expensive and time consuming! This is the only pretty store bought pair of knee socks that I've ever found that fit.....the search continues!! =)
More plaid! I luuuurv plaid, it makes me feel happy inside! =)
 Shirt: Kohls, Cami: JcPenny, Skirt: Made by me, Socks: Wal-Mart
 I did wear tall boots today, so I'm not quite as brave as you think in my pattern mixing!
Here is my necklace, I love his expression!
Necklace: Fred Myers
Day Two~Black and Brown
If you want to join in the fun or see the rest of the wonderful fall outfits, click on the picture of the pretty yellow skirt to the left of your screen! =)
Today's challenge? Wear two colors that don't "go" together!
This one was difficult for me, maybe I just have an odd sense of color, but most colors go together for me! So, I chose a color combo that while gaining popularity is still not fully accepted! Plus, I am still slowly introducing black into my wardrobe now having figured out how to wear it without looking like the wait staff! =)
 Cardi: Target, Tank: Wal-Mart, Skirt: Made by me, Boots: Naturalizer, Tights: Wal-Mart
 I was trying to make a kilt, but I failed to buy enough fabric (Pleats really eat up your fabric, so if you ever plan on making something pleated just know.....you've been warned!), so it's only pleated 2/3 of the way around!
Hair flower: Joann's, Earrings: Gabrielle Atelier, Necklace; B-Day gift
It's Fall Premeir Season!
The new fall TV line up premiered along with my old favorites.....so, I may have been spending a LOT more time watching TV then I should be.....hey, fall premiere season only comes once a year!
I am picky about what I watch, but I would still cation you to look up these shows before watching them and read some reviews. What's okay for me may not be okay for someone else and vice versa!
First, my old favorites!
Love this show, it's one of the reasons I've started writing my own mystery series! For those of you who watch it, wasn't Kate's hair better short like in this picture?
I started watching this because it came out right after I finished Lost and I was missing my Lost buddies and lo and behold there was Jin, with an American accent, it was pretty trippy let me tell you!! Terry O'Quinn (John Locke) from Lost has a reoccurring roll this season, it's neat seeing Jin and John together again!
Lassie is my favorite, followed closely by Shawn himself! I have to say last weeks episode, Last Night Gus, is my favorite episode of the whole show! It is so quintessentially Psych and it was nice seeing Lassie break loose!
That's it for my old favorites, onto the new premiers! =)
Look!! It's my favorite character of all time from Lost, Ben! I hope it lasts, because it's very good! Hmm, I seem to be drawn towards cop/mystery series!
Raoul from Phantom of the Opera and Elizabeth from the 1995 Pride and Prejudice? How could I NOT check this one out? It's addicting and I think one of the major factors is I CAN NOT believe that the handsome leading man is the wimpy long haired guy Christine mistakenly went for in Phantom of the Opera!
I read in an magazine that this show should be renamed The Lost Avatar Jurassic....and though I like the show and am slightly offended at the dig of what is in my opinion an excellent show, I honestly have to admit to agreeing, it has components of all of those movies/shows!
Sooooo excited about this show and the first episode lived up to my expectations! How could a faerie tale themed show written by the guys who came up with Lost fail to make me giddy? =)
I was already OVERLOADED with TV shows I was trying to keep up with and wasn't going to start this one, worries about the content form some early reviews made me cautious! Then I heard from a couple places that it was good, so started it....I really shouldn't have, because now it's one more show I'm trying to fit in.....I love the relationship between the sisters and Christina Ricci has been a favorite of mine ever since she was in Penelope(My favorite movie!)
What are some fall premieres that YOU are excited about? =)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Teddy!!!!!" Isabelle gasped as she ripped the flyer for her new cooking class out of the box, "What happened, where is the flyer I wrote up?!"

Teddy casually shrugged and took the flyer Isabelle had shoved in his face. "Ah, come on Belles, I just jazzed it up a bit; you know, to get people interested!"

Isabelle could barely speak, "You wanted to get people interested?! In what? I CAN NOT hand these out! What will your mother say? What will MY Mother say...."

She sank down onto the nearest chair, sighing. Teddy grinned and grabbing the box of flyers, sitting down next to Isabelle.

“Come on, you’re flyer was…..well, boring for lack of a better term. These will get way more notice. Nobody will think you’re actually teaching a class in…..”

Isabelle grabbed a flyer and read it aloud. “Bored? Feeling restless? Looking for a way to heat up your summer vacation? Come to an brand new class from Serviette Catering and you’ll learn an exciting new hobby that will really “heat” things up this summer. Let the lovely Isabelle guide you and in three easy classes you could be Makin’ Whoopie like a pro! Call 555-1234 to reserve your a spot today!"

Isabelle rolled her eyes, it sounded even worse outloud! "Really? I’m pretty sure  I know exactly what they’ll think! I’m letting you answer the phone for the next few weeks. You can deal with all the perverts that call in!”

Teddy chuckled and picked up a stack of flyers, “I’ll take this half and you take the other half….” Teddy froze mid-sentence.

Isabelle looked up and sighed, “What now? You want to rent matching French maid costumes or something? Hello, earth to Teddy?” Isabelle waved a hand in front of teddy's oddly his pale face and followed his gaze down into the flyer box and she saw what had made his face blanch.

The next paper in the box was a color copy of a man’s hand, with the words help me and the numbers 453 written messily in black ink on the palm.
