Come on with the rain!

(For those of you who also live in CO, I know that it is no longer raining and it's beautiful and 65 right now, but the computer I use has been broken so give me a break and enjoy the rain post any way, 'kay? Thanks!!)

Rain gets such bad press, nobody likes it, it's wet(no duh!) it's cold. I agree sometimes after days and days of it I get tired of it and grumble like everyone else. But, I do actually like the rain! I decided to try and show some support for this very important, beautiful and often maligned weather!

Hmm, when did they start not allowing you to embed some videos? Oh, well, no music video for you, but you can still listen to the song!

I had a devil of a time getting a version of this song that I could post! Though it's not the original, I do really like this version and think Usher did an excellent job!=)

More Signs of Spring!

The daffa-down-dillies are blooming!

Our plum tree is in bloom, it smells so good!

And I've rescued my favorite chair from it's spidery winter home in the shed! My little brother was "trying" it out for me, the sword was found rolled up in the chair, he was very happy about it's return.=)

Cletus Take the Reel

I found this video a while ago and hearing the original song on the radio this morning made me want to hear this version again. Because while most of Carrie Underwoods songs annoy the dickens out of me I love this version!! The guy singing is Tim Hawkins, most of his stuff is pretty funny and clean too, which seems to be a pretty hard  combo to find nowadays!=)

My Yoke is Easy and my Burden is Light

Matthew 11:28-30
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Whatever your burdens in this life, whether they are big or small, inward or outward, all consuming or just a minor annoyance you don't have to shoulder this burden by yourself. Sure you can find temporary relief in screwing up your will power to be brave and by convincing yourself not to worry.

You may find relief in sharing your problems with others, just having someone else know is enough to make us feel better for awhile. But, then one day sometimes without you noticing, you will feel the weight of your burdens settle down upon your shoulders.

This verse tells us that Jesus yoke is easy and His burden is light. Does it promise that we will not have burdens, and that all our problems will magically vanish? No it doesn't, but what it does promise is that rather then shouldering our burdens by ourselves and being yoked alone, we will be yoked to Him. He will help us carry our burdens. Instead of bearing the weight of our worry and fear alone, He will shoulder the burdens with us. With Him beside us, we are more easily lead by Him.

Why then do we have such a hard time giving up our burdens? We still worry and and try to take control over things that just can't be controlled by us. Is it pride? Is it fear of the unknown? Is is simply stubbornness? Whatever the reason we need to pray and seek out why we are not accepting the offer of having our burdens lifted. Sometimes it's just that we don't realize that we feel the need to control our own lives, giving up control is one of the hardest things for us humans to do.

Join me in giving our burdens to Jesus, let Him shoulder your burdens with you and give Him the control. Look at it this way, God is writing your story, He knows how everything will turn out and will never ever mess up or blot the page. Why then do we keep trying to take the pen and scrawl upon the page with our limited view and imperfect handwriting? I pray that I will be able hand the pen of my life back over the the Author and stop trying to write my own story!=)
