Wardrobe Department

What I wore for a do nothing stay at home type of day! I dropped my parents off at the airport early this morning (VERY early), they're headed to TN to look for houses, yeah! Pray that they find a good one! =)

I didn't feel like answering the round of when are you moving, where are your parents, are you moving too,  etc etc etc, type questions, so we might have played hooky from church.....

Oh, and I just might have gone out to get Starbucks for my 19 year sister and me.....but other then that it's been a lazy, stay at home reading, watching the third installment of the 10th Kingdom, talk with a friend who came over for a few hours, type of day!

It was a much needed relaxing day before the upcoming, fully loaded week!

Who says you can't be lazy and cute? ;-)
Shirt: JcPenny, Skirt: Coldwater Creek via eBay, shortened by me

Hair flower: Blog Swap, Shoes: Target via eBay, Earrings: Shop-Ko

Linking my outfit up here! While I didn't exactly go to church today, I have worn this outfit to church before! ;-)

Insta-Life

Harvesting all of our basil and other herbs to make pesto. I had the idea to use sage and pecans instead of basil and pine nuts in one batch, and let me just say, it was FANTASTIC!!! Add some dried cranberries and it tastes like Thanksgiving on a spoon!

This adorable little cutie is Buggy(aka, Hannah Grace), she is the cutest niece in the world!

See what I mean?

Look Ma, we found headbands with flowers as big as our heads, just like Buggy!

I was bored and snapped this pic while waiting in the car, this wasn't photo shopped at all, but looks all instagram-esque anyway! =)

I guess these next two aren't Instagram, but they are on my iPod as backgrounds!

This picture is so lovely, I fell like I could sit there all day with this girl, who I just know is a kindred spirit! All the while talking of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings.....

....and last but not least, does anyone else LOVE these?

Pinspired

Saw it.....loved it.....pinned it.....

.....wore it!!!

Well, okay, almost wore it! I got pretty darn close! I couldn't belt it as the skirt, since it fits around my hips, had to much extra to bunch up under a belt to wear it around my waist with a shirt tucked in!
Shirt and Cami: JcPenny, Skirt: Made by me

See how I cleverly replaced the sunglasses with a  necklace? ;-)
Shoes: Target, Earrings: Made my me, Bracelet: Shop-Ko, Necklace: Kohl's

The moral of the story? Hair today goon tomorrow....wait, oops, sorry, wrong moral!.....

Ahem, the real moral is, don't let not having the exact pieces in a pinned outfit stop you from being trying to recreate it with what you have in your closet!

Said the obsessive about about not having the EXACT pieces to recreate an outfit pot, who is knowingly calling the kettle black, but is trying to reform and not have to have everything perfect and matching the original.....

How about you? Have you tried out a favorite pin?

In Defense of Darcy

Ahh, Fitzwilliam Darcy, how many girls have idolized him over the years, holding him up to be the perfect man, and while I can't agree with that, I ALSO don't agree with the Darcy bashing that has been going around the blog world lately!

Yes, he's prideful, vain, unfriendly, judgmental, holds grudges and an often over looked fault, he is extremely shy and socially awkward. A "fault" I can definitely identify with!!

But, he is also a faithful friend, is wiling to change his mind when he is wrong, kind to those beneath him, takes care of those he loves and upon further acquaintance becomes much more personable! If he was truly  a bad person, Bingley, Georgina and his household staff wouldn't like/love him the way they do!

So, while  he is a flawed man, he is also a good one, so while he may not be your cup of tea, I don't think he deserves the scorn and put downs I've seen about him lately!

*she now steps down off her soap box and shoves it behind her grinning sheepishly*

Now, on to the fun portion of this post!

I've seen three versions and while I have liked them all, I definitely have rated them in my mind!

~Third~
I liked this version well enough, but they cut a lot and while I know this was necessary to make a 2 hour movie, it annoys this bibliophile non the less! And Darcys hair kind of bugs me, it's a little Beiber-esque for me!

~Second~
This version stays closest to the book, and was my favorite until I saw Lost in Austen.....but more on that in a moment. Colin Firth did an excellent job of capturing the pride and the social awkwardness that is Darcy, and I LOVE Jennifer Ehle as Elizabeth! I am tickled pink that I test out as her on, Which Austen Heroine are You, personality quizzes!

~First~
A note of caution about this one, it is modern and British, so is a little off color at points, but I have to admit, that's one of the charms about it, the modern clashing with the old fashioned! You get to see another side of Wickam, which is nice and it totally fulfills my fangirl dreams of escaping into my favorite stories!

This is one of my favorite parts and illustrates the clashing of worlds I was talking about perfectly!

Insta-Life

A small peak at the goings on of my life through Instagram! =)

Our sunflowers are blooming like crazy! I LOVE the dark ones!

I've been itching to wear this burnt orange skirt since I bought it at the same time as my pink maxi skirt (all the wayback in April) yeah for fall!

Pumkin. Spice. Fraps!!  Yes, they are back at Starbucks!!!!!!!!!!!! The cookies were made by me however, chewy molasses cookies with candied ginger.....I may have chosen to make these because they went perfectly with the frap..... ;-)

Wardrobe Department

Found this.....
.....through a friends bog and thought I would join up! =)

We had our last outdoor service of the season and while I originally had planned on wearing something more fallish, my Mom threw a monkey wrench into my plans by giving me this shirt of hers I've been coveting all season and it went PERFECTLY with this skirt I could never find a shirt for, so springy colors it was!

Sorry for the less then stellar picture quality, these are cell phone pics I happened to have because my sister wanted to see what I was wearing to church!
Shirt: Dress barn via Mom, Cami: JcPenny, Skirt: Made by me

Shoes: Old Navy, Necklace: Kohl's, Earrings: Made by me, Bracelet: Shop-Ko
