Cleaning "The Pit"

My church for the past few years has done a closed for service Sunday where the whole church is encouraged to sign up and volunteer at one of the provided activities and there is no church that Sunday. Well, I was asked to head up a team to clean out our churches costume closet. Sounds easy right? Think again! The thought of that room made our church janitor shudder and call it "The Pit", as he went on and on about the bad smell and church janitors are known to be a hardy breed of individual!!  After starting out with a team of four it dwindled down to two. The others had to work or their schedule changed, so it just ended up being me and my Mom, which actually worked out better, we were running into each other enough as it was!
Hmm, maybe not so easy.....

After we had emptied out the stuff allover the floor and were sorting it into different bins.

More stuff from off of the floor

A giant yellow M&M?? I need to go and get some fresh air, I think the dust is getting to me.....

Jah, ve be from the liberal ordnung!

Getting closer.....

Almost done.....

It's so close, I can almost smell and taste it!!

Wait, what is this tiny little door back here for??

Oh no! 6 more HUGE garbage bags full of costumes??

Fun, with the costumes. We must have done a mid-evil play at one point, at least 2 of those garbage bags were full of stuff like this. Anyone want some grog?? And as you can tell by the halo of frizz it was getting late in the day!

We are truly finished, yeah!!!!!!

A Soggy Day Poem!

Plink, plink, drop, drip, drop,
I'm afraid this rain will never stop!
Raining, raining, all day long,
Like an endless drippy song.

The ground is wet and oh so muddy,
My mop has become my bosom buddy,
Seems there's more dirt inside then out,
It makes me want to stomp and shout!

Whenever two or more are gathered near,
The talk is gloomy at best I fear,
We grunt and sigh, always complain,
About this blasted soggy rain!

We all say, where are you sun?
Come and make the rain be done!
We hate it, hate it, yes we do,
Great, now I sound like Dr. Suess!

Wait! Stop, let's all rethink,
About this endless, plink, plonk, plink,
Close your eyes and smell the air,
Nothing smells quite so fair.

As the world when it's washed anew,
God has done the same for you!
Refreshed and washed you, made you clean,
Now does hope begin to gleam?

Now open up those eyes of yours,
And get thy butt out of doors,
Look around and you shall see,
A poem so lovely as a tree....

Wait a minute, that's not my line,
Oops, let's try another rhyme!!
The grass seems greener, the flowers bright,
Isn't the world a wondrous sight?

Look at those hated drops of rain,
Sparkle and glisten, a pearly sheen,
Upon our world a miracle wrought,
It's been bejeweled, now who'd have thought!

My favorite part, I've saved for last,
A promise from an ancient past,
To never flood the world again,
Given to our boat builder friend.

A promise displayed across the sky,
For all to turn an awe stuck eye,
A band of colors shining bright,
The rainbow is a wondrous sight.

God paints it there, for us just so,
That He can let us know,
He's  always there, and loves as dear,
Isn't that so good the hear?

So, when it's gray, I'll not complain,
I've decided when it starts to rain,
I'll think upon the greatness of,
My heavenly Father up above!

WIFD~Day Two

It was supposed to be sunny and almost 60 today. It is raining outside and only about 45! =( Gotta love spring in the high desert! I need to learn to take better self portraits, that's the problem with being the photographer in the household, you can't get good pics of yourself!!
Sweater~Wal Mart
 Dress~Made by me
Shoes~Black flats that are in such bad shape they were removed for the picture! I just haven't been able to find a new pair that I like!
Earrings(pic to follow)~ Made by me

My friend Daisy is kindly holding the earrings for me. They seemed to go with the vintage French feeling of my fabric!

WIFD~Day one

Happy Mothers Day! I forgot that today was the start of WIFD, I thought that it was next Sunday. Alas, because of a big head and LOTS of hair, all hats just pop right off of my head, so no hat for me today!

Sweater- Jessica London
Tank- St Johns bay, JC Penny
Skirt-Made by me(it has huge patch pockets, I love pockets!!)
Shoes- Target
I loved these shoes in store and tried them on almost every time I went, but I try not to spend more then $15 on shoes that won't go with most of my wardrobe. I was super excited when I saw these for less then $10 on the Target website. Boyah for off season, sale shoes!

Me and Chanticleer, while this pic wasn't taken today(it was taken on May Day while we were out delivering baskets) I am wearing the same outfit. Besides when does a giant rooster not make you smile??=)
Does anyone else love/remember the movie Rock-A-Doodle??

Happy May Day!!

Happy May Day! My family started celebrating this holiday when I was 12. I had just read Louisa May Alcott's Jack and Jill and fell in love with the idea and talked my family into it. So, now every year on May Day, we make baskets the night before, fill them with flowers, hugs and kisses(the chocolate kind, of course!) and deliver them(for the most part) before the sun comes up.

My fav baskets are old frappachino bottles with simple wire handles. They remind me of old fashioned milk bottles!

The all important caffeine boost for making all the handles. Me, being the one with experience with wire gets that job!

Click on the pic to see the handle more clearly, I couldn't get a clear picture and was to tired to try anymore!

A close up, just because I love my macro feature!

The baskets after they have all been filled

Sneaky, sneaky.....

Run!

La, de, da de da!!

Come on with the rain!

(For those of you who also live in CO, I know that it is no longer raining and it's beautiful and 65 right now, but the computer I use has been broken so give me a break and enjoy the rain post any way, 'kay? Thanks!!)

Rain gets such bad press, nobody likes it, it's wet(no duh!) it's cold. I agree sometimes after days and days of it I get tired of it and grumble like everyone else. But, I do actually like the rain! I decided to try and show some support for this very important, beautiful and often maligned weather!

Hmm, when did they start not allowing you to embed some videos? Oh, well, no music video for you, but you can still listen to the song!

I had a devil of a time getting a version of this song that I could post! Though it's not the original, I do really like this version and think Usher did an excellent job!=)
