The Coffee Song

Day five of the Autumn Fashion Show!

Eek, I didn't realize how different of a shade of brown the shoes were until I saw the picture.....maybe a footwear change is in order!
Shirt- Wal-Mart
Skirt- Made by me
Shoes- Target, but I think they may change into the cowboy boots from day's one and two!
Necklace(Picture below) From RJ Charms on Etsy, I love it!

If anyone else has a coffee habit, you need to try the new flavored Via. Make it with milk instead of water and you have a straight from the coffee house treat for a fraction of the cost! I've tried the vanilla, cinnamon and the caramel, all very good!=)

This song was on my first Frank Sinatra CD and I have to laugh every time I hear it!=)

Our Kind of Love

Day four of the Autumn Fashion Showcase!

I imagine myself riding down that "ol' Bend" highway in the fall. Music blasting and windows down!

In this car.....

Wearing this.....
Shirt- Made by me from Sense and Sensibilities Romantic blouse pattern
Skirt- Made by me
Tights- Wal-Mart
(Not pictured)Shoes- Target

With him! =)

I love this song and due to the slurring of the words, my Mom and I thought it said, just like drivin' down ol' Bend highway. We live near a pretty country road called old Bend-Redmond Highway, so we may have thought that  they were talking about that.....until I looked up the lyrics and say it really said open highway. I still sing it our way!

I've never seen the movie, so I can't recommend it, but I do know that t he sound track is awesome!

Bonfire

Today is day two of the Autumn Fashion Showcase!

This is what I would wear to a fall bonfire, if I was ever invited to one!(hint, hint.....)
Shirt~Wal-Mart
Skirt~Made by me, from an old dress made by me, from fabric from Wal-Mart
Boots~ Wal-Mart
Owl necklace~ Made by me, charm from.....Micheal's, not Wal-Mart! Are you surprised? I was when I realized that everything besides the necklace and one other item are from Wal-Mart, unseen garments included !(TMI?hehe)

I love the concept of this video, now if only I knew if it was all staged or not.
I love the Christmas version of this he recorded. Did you know? The Christmas version was a spur of the moment, turned the bathroom of the hotel into a recording room type of thing! I love random facts like that, don't you?

The Last Rose of Summer

Today is the first day of the Autumn Fashion Showcase! It has been hovering around 80 degrees, but today it is blessedly cooler fallsih weather! Sorry all of you local people, but I've been praying for cooler weather, it's fall for goodness sake, I want to wear boots and sleeves, not sun dresses and flip flops!=P

I have been hanging onto this fabric since early spring. I knew it would make the perfect princess seam dress, but me and the ol' princess seam haven't exactly gotten along in the past. I just couldn't get it to fit right. I finally found and modified a pattern and will be using it a lot!=)

While I was working with this fabric, the song Last Rose of Summer popped into my head. It's a dress I made at the end of summer and has roses on it, so I dubbed this dress the Last Rose of Summer dress. Very creative, right? ;-)

A necklace I made out of old earring parts. The beads are to heavy for earrings and the heart hoops looked odd on, so after hanging onto both pieces for years, I finally put them together into my new favorite necklace!

A very long leather braid that I can use for a bracelet, anklet, or a necklace. I copied it after seeing one on the net and I didn't want to pay $45. I paid $3!*smile*

Colors of the Wind Earrings from Amanda Beth. They are forest green and sparkly!

This is my favorite version of this song, I love the Celtic women.=)

*Light Bulb*

Yes, I'm quoting Gru, he is awesome and that is that!

I am constantly collecting ideas for parties and weddings and other various events. I came across these adorable faerie lanterns and after drooling for a few minutes I got to down to figuring out how they were made.

I'm a big one for saying, I could make that, no need to buy! Then I never end up with whatever it is and instead have paved my road with good intentions and not much else. (and believe me, good intentions are no replacement for a decent winter wardrobe.....Brrrrr!)

I decide to set off into the cyber world and see if I could realistically make a set of six of these for less then $115.

Item one: Jar $4.75
It looks to me like it's a quart jar and after looking a few places the average seems to be about $4.75 for 6.

Item 2: Handle $10
After looking at the picture bigger it appears to be brown floral tape wrapped around wire, both of these items come in at least 5 yard packages and are less then $5 apiece. So, let's just say $10 for the handles, a package of each.

Item three: Wooden Hearts $1.75
You can get ten wooden hearts for $1.75, and we will allow for some messing around with the wood burner and say we need all ten.

Item four: Moss $10
The brown moss is way cheaper, but the green looks so much better. I'm not sure how much is in each jar, but  think two one pound bags will be enough.

Item five: Mini Battery Powered Christmas Lights $35
By far the most expensive item and the one you are most likely going to have to buy online. They run about $3.75 a string and 6 sets would be $22.50, but since we are assuming online ordering I added some shipping cost in.

The grand total? $48.95!
So, yes Veronica not only is there a Santa Claus, but this time I could actually make this item for less then I could buy it! =)

I'm putting some links for the sites were I found the light *snicker* because they seem the most difficult to find. If you are planning an event and know you want to make these, after Christmas would be an excellent time, all those good sales on the decorations!

The craft items should be readily available at a craft store, and the jars at any grocery store. Come to think of it, I may have seen the light *snicker* at Micheal's for those little snow villages?
