Snow Day #3

I'm one my third snow day in a row, and it's been both wonderful and a little stressful.....yeah for time off, but I'm not getting paid.....so I'm trying to enjoy the time off and not stress!

The ice that came off my car this morning!

Poor little guy, but he looks pretty cool!

Then for the first time in a couple years we went sledding in our front yard!

Mom joined in the fun as well!

The driveway is a sheet of ice with a thin layer of snow, but I tried it anyway! It was much faster and there for more fun!

Life Lately and a Photo Challange

As you may have noticed my posting has been a bit hit and miss lately! Life has been crazy between moving , finding a job, getting new bills to support said job, loosing job, finding another job and now adjusting to having a job that has me out of the house for a total of 10-11 hours a day, there is almost 2 hours of drive time in there, so you could say I've been  a wee bit preoccupied and to top it all off I get to wear something akin to this 5 days a week.....
.....except my shirt is about 2 sizes to big, and covers my butt while reaching my elbows.....and apparently if I post pictures of myself wearing said uniform on the internet there will be pain and banishment involved.....though why they would think anyone would want to post pictures of themselves in this particular get up I'm not sure.....

Ahem, anyhoodle, enough complaining, I really am getting used to it and it's almost nice not to have to think about what to wear in the morning!

Hey, I just realized, I never told you guys, I got a job in a preschool!! I'm a floater for now, someone who covers breaks and basically just steps in wherever they are needed, but there are lots of assistant teacher positions opening up, so fingers crossed! I really enjoyed my first two weeks and while last week was all you can imagine a week with 20+ 3 years olds in a room meant for 14 could be, this week the class sizes should be normal again!

Saw this on Pinterest, to be honest it was the cherries that caught my eye, and decided to give it a go!  Hopefully it will inspire me to get back on a regular blogging schedule!

See you tomorrow with a photo of my breathtakingly beautiful handwriting! ;-)

Let me know if you decide to join in on the fun!

Life Lately

I started this show a few months ago and may have watched 18 episodes in a week, then re-watched them when I got the rest of my family hooked! Who knew a show about a cattle ranch in Australia could be so addicting? Hulu and Netflix both have all 8 seasons available!

This stuff smells sooooo good! It makes me want warm weather even more. I guess if I can't have warm weather, at least I can smell like summer!

We finally finished season 4 of Doctor Who and even though it's gong to get me stoned by ardent 10 fans, I can't say I'm sad to see Tennet go, this last season was a wee bit over dramatic *ducks*to*avoid*rocks*
Hopefully we get some rollicking and fun back in season 5!

It's after Valentines Day, so I can now eat these lovely little eggs of yumminess!

The family I nanny for is moving into their new house on Wednesday, so my commute will only be 35 minutes and not an over an hour, YEAH!!

Ovo Means "egg"' in Portuguese.....

Why on earth am I sharing such a random factoid, you may be wondering.....

.....well, wonder no longer! My family had the opportunity to go and see Ovo this past weekend, before they take the show to Australia!

We packed up early Sunday morning (copious amounts of barf receptacles included, for those of us who get car sick.... travel is so fun with a house full of car sick pron people! Ginger pills have literally changed my life folks, try them for nausea and motion sickness, they really do work!) and headed to Portland. Drove through a half marathon, saw a giant metal elephant.....

.....and dropped of crazy Becca at Powell's (as she didn't want to go to the show....hence the crazy bit) one of the worlds biggest used book stores and the rest of us headed here.....

.....our first surprise was that the show was actually in a  tent, we thought it was inside the Expo center, but nope! The amazingly talented folks at Cirque Du Soleil (Which I've been told means circus of the sun) have invented the Tardis tent, far bigger on the inside then it looks on the outside!

....and unless you Google the show that's all the pictures you're going to get, they start yelling at you about cameras as soon as you walk in the gates...oh well!

Lack of pictures aside, it was an AMAZING experience and if you ever have a chance to go to a Cirque Du Soleil show, you should grab it and not look back! The costumes, music, the special effects, the set, everything was amazing and they 2 1/2 hours literally flew by (except for the half hour intermission, but I had brought along a book to take care of the boring bit!)

Some pics of our drive around downtown Portland, I would't want to live there, but I do love to visit!

Where ivy has grown and then died on an underpass, I love the patterns the ivy had made!

China Town

Cool details

I love how colorful the buildings are, (though the people all seemed to be wearing black and brown....)

We went to the Old Spaghetti factory for dinner, I love it there! They have the neatest building and the food is really good! They have this special cheese,
.....small batch.....
.....made by little Italian grandmothers.....
.....can't get it anywhere else.....
 .....sheep's milk.....
( I know, me eating sheep's milk, but I had already eaten it at this point, so I went with it!) and I'm not kidding you here people it tastes almost exactly like this.....
....which I love, since that kind of cheese was my favorite as a kid! I know those little Italian Grandmothers are shaking their fists at me and muttering about this dumb Americans unsophisticated pallet, but what can I say? It has a bit more depth of flavor, but for the most part a Kraft clone it is! ;-)

They have a small arcade upstairs, the silly crane machine ate my 50 cents!

Crazy big chair that just screams photo op!

TaDa!

Bonus outfit photo! My lovely Mom bought this skirt for me the day before, I'd put it back at JcPenny as it was out of budget, but she went back and picked it up for me! Not the best choice to wear to a city where it rains most of the time.....the hem was a wee bit filthy by the end of the day! I love how it moves and being from the petite section, the hem is just touching the ground instead of being 4-5 inches to long!
Shirt: eBay, Skirt: JcPenny, Purse: Dillards, Cowboy Botts: Wal-Mart

I was so sad, this little guy was SUPPOSED to be here in time for the trip, but he came the day after, so he didn't get to come with us. There is always next time though!

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday, the official start of spring for me, it never really feels like spring until after Easter! We did the normal things, went to service (during which I DIDN'T have to work in the nursery!) and heard an truly amazing a-capella choir number (I love me some a-capella!) and was once again reminded of the sacrifice that my Lord and Savior made for me, and what good news that this is!!!

After we got home, we.....

..... hunted for Easter eggs.....

.....the kids re-hid the eggs for me. Sadly, it took me a long time and lots of overtly obvious hints to find them all!! And found this one to be cracked and oozing...hence the face! ;-)

.....and then the kids hid them AGAIN for a family friend who came over 'cause most of his family is in Washington, so he came over and was entertained by our crazy antics for the afternoon!

.....then we ate ham, gaumy rice (A nickname for it, I'm not sure what the real name is.....but it's cheesy rice with all kinds of tasty veggies mixed in!) hot cross buns and lemon chiffon pie, which we only have at Easter, it's some kind of unfair rule or law or something, only having this most delicious pie once a year! =)

You think with the hundreds of pictures the kids took of me hunting eggs there would have been a good outfit pic in there, but this is the best we've got!
Cardigan: Jc Penny, Cami: Jc Penny, Skirt: Made by me

...and how could I leave out one of the best parts.....

.....Rainbow Peeps on a stick!!
Yes Virginia, there IS a Santa Clause!! ;-)

Spring Break!

I actually got spring break off this year! So, here is some of what I've done, wore and the places I've been!

Made some necklaces!
I found some brightly colored chain at Wal-Mart for $1a bag and was inspired to make these! =)

Started on the collage wall I've been wanting to have!

Of course we went to the High Desert Museum, what spring break would be complete without it?
I really need to get a better camera.....you can barely see the cute sawmill guy! =(

Died Easter eggs! Can anyone else hardly believe it's only 2 weeks until Easter?
Now that we've all been staring at this egg we realize it looks like our friend Mr. Tim....yes, I mean you Tim Kirkman! It has  a gotee, but you can't really see it! ;-)

My favorite little brother! Aren't those yes and freckles just to die for?

Today's outfit, inspired by....wait for it......this pin from Pinterest!

I've got the yellow, coral, dark gray and a pale gray that kind of almost matches the blue-gray in the picture!
Cardigan: Wal-Mart, Tank: Wal-Mart, Skirt: Made by me, Tights: Shop-Ko

Bracelet and earrings: Shop-ko

And last but not least.....I am slowly (but surely!) working my way through week two of this!!

Munch N' Movies

Late summer nights+pizza+giant inflatable movie screen= Munch N' Movies!
They do four movies every year and sadly enough E.T. was the only one worth seeing this year!

Sorry about the color, this was taken with my cell phone!

Eating cake pops! I was really excited about cake pops, until I read a recipe on how to make them.....

I told her to smile and look cute.....

My Moms friend Maura and my Mom

Me and Becca, she doesn't look scary this time!

The main excitement of the night? Seeing this guy.....click on the picture and take a REAL good look! I'll wait while you puzzle it out! I'll give you a clue......he doesn't have a name, it's really more of a tittle!

             Park Guy                                                                   Doctor Who

Eerie resemblance, no?
I know it wasn't really him, but that didn't stop me from taking sneaky pics and making jokes about parking the Tardis and Rose Tyler! =)
